Monk as some of us called him were close friends and communicated through the mail when he was in Viet Nam. One of the reasons that I joined the Marine Corps was because of him and George Alexander having joined. Some of the mail that I received from Monk talked about him being a dog handler. His German Shepard was named Mike and I recall receiving a picture of the two of them poising. His biggest desire was to come back to Florida, purchase a canary yellow GTO and drive across country.
