Comments:

Since 1965, I enrolled into [Edward Waters College]; then, I enlisted into the United States Navy. I was married and divorced [2] times. After [25] successful years in the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief/E-9. I returned to college; whereby, I'm happy to say that I was able to earn [4] college Degrees in 6 years. I retired 1991 in San Diego CA.; and in 1992, I received an [Associate of Science Degree] in Hotel Restaurant Management] at City University; Bel-View Washington. In 1993, I received a second degree; [Associate of Arts Degree] in Liberal Arts at San Diego, City College. In 1994 I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in [Workforce Education and Development] at Southern Illinois University; Carbondale Illinois. And, in 1997 I received a [Master of Career Development and Community Counseling Degree]/MCDCC from National University; San Diego, CA. Later, in 2000, I received a Diploma in Computerized Office/Accounting at Valley Career College; El Cajon, CA.
Currently, I'm [63] years old, and continue working... I have discovered that my passion in life is working with [Homeless Veterans]. It’s the type of work; whereby, one never gets tired of performing...Our Company [Mental Health Systems Inc.] receives a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor at $300K; annually for providing employment services for [Homeless Veterans]. I have been at this job since August 2004....

Ken Solomon asked; "Glasker why don't discuss some of your military experiences into your classmate profile. Especially, during your time when you flew onboard of an aircraft carrier; while at sea in the Indian Ocean. Because you are the only person that I know that has flown onto an aircraft carrier at sea." And, the Indian Ocean is a long way from 45th. Street. Would you explain the differences between an E-8/E-9 and a Master Chief in the U.S. Navy?"

Enlisted Sailors are those without college degrees. On the other hand; Officers are those who have completed a [4] year college degree. Enlisted sailors are ranked from E-1 through E-9, and E-9 is the highest enlisted rank. Moreover, the Senior Enlisted ranks are: a Chief E-7; Senior Chief E-8, and Master Chief E-9.

In 1985 - 1988; I was assigned to the Air Craft Carrier, USS Constellation [CV64]. I flew on board while the ship was at sea in the Indian Ocean near Mombassa, Africa. After, being onboard the ship for only [45] minutes, the Executive Officer, who was the second most senior officer in line of authority, wanted to speak with me. He said; "welcome aboard Senior Chief Lewis." You shall be responsible for the overall management of providing meals for over [5 thousand] of my sailors; [3 meals daily]. Additionally, you shall be responsible for the supervision of more than [3 hundred] food service personnel, as well as manage a [$3 million dollar] annual budget. So; If, anyone gets in your way; then let me know, and I will get the [SOB] out of your way. Well, Senior Chief is that a deal… [Hand shake]; then, it’s a god-damned deal. My [3 year] experience onboard was one of my easiest jobs during my 25 years in the U.S. Navy….

What has life taught you, so far?

N/A Life has taught me many lessons, and most of them have been painful. Also, it has taught me that there are no true fortune tellers or magic bullets. What has helped sustain me through-out the years are lessons learned from one of my favorite philosophers [Joseph Campbell]; he has stated, “The one true path for one to follow is…one should follow one’s bliss, and that individual shall find the path to where one ought to be….

Do you have any regrets in your life?

N/A My mother passed on December 21, 1987 at 64 years old. I wanted her to see me graduate from college. However, I do appreciate the time that she was with us....

School Story:

In 1965, I had an opportunity to play Semi-Professional Baseball with the Jacksonville, Buccaneers; and we had contracts with the [Kansas City Athletics]; who later became the Oakland Athletics/A's. I played two different positions, such as [Short-Stop], as well as [3rd] Base; my father [Glasker Lewis Senior's] position was at Right Field; my cousin [Allen James] was a 6' 5'', one hundred ninety pound, right handed Pitcher, and Jimmy Evans [Classmate] was at Second Base. So, if this story is difficult to believe; then, Jimmy Lee Evans can verify my story to be true....

Short Story about Jimmy Lee Evans [Classmate]. Jimmy Lee, and I were in the 4th. Grade at Lincoln Villa, Elementary School. Unfortunately, I was involved in an automobile accident; then, I was incapacitated, and told that I would have to repeat 4th. Grade...Jimmy had a lot of fun with that out-come.

Later, Jimmy did not graduate with his Class of 1964. Therefore, we became Classmates again, and I had a lot of fun with that out-come. Moreover, that is why Jimmy Lee, and I are one year older than our 1965 Classmates.
